Brand Safety Policy

Last updated: May 25, 2026

1. What Is Brand Safety?

Brand safety refers to Tamu's commitment to ensuring that advertising and sponsored content on the platform does not appear alongside material that could damage an advertiser's reputation or conflict with their values. Equally, it protects Creators by providing clear guidelines about the type of branded work they are expected to produce and the environments in which it will be distributed.

This policy applies to all paid advertising on the Tamu Ad Platform, all Creator Marketplace campaigns, and any co-branded or sponsored content posted to Tamu by Creators or Advertisers.

2. Content Categories

Tamu classifies all platform content and ad environments into three tiers for brand safety purposes:

Safe (Default)

Content that is suitable for all advertisers and brand partnerships. Campaigns targeting "Safe" inventory will only appear adjacent to or within content that meets the highest brand safety standards. Examples include:

  • Lifestyle, fashion, food, and travel content
  • Entertainment, music, and arts content with no adult or violent themes
  • Sports and fitness content
  • Educational and professional content
  • Family-friendly event coverage

Restricted (Opt-In)

Content that is permitted on Tamu but may not be appropriate for all advertisers. Advertisers must explicitly opt in to have their campaigns shown in "Restricted" environments. Examples include:

  • Mature themes (mild violence in news or documentary context, strong language)
  • Alcohol content (where legal and age-gated)
  • Dating and relationship content
  • Controversial social topics discussed in a balanced, non-hateful manner
  • Live streams with uncontrolled user comment sections

Prohibited (No Advertising)

Content that violates Tamu's Community Guidelines or applicable law. Advertising of any kind is not permitted adjacent to or within prohibited content. Such content will be removed from the platform. Examples include:

  • Hate speech, incitement to violence, or terrorism
  • Child sexual abuse material
  • Non-consensual intimate imagery
  • Content that glorifies or facilitates illegal drug use, human trafficking, or self-harm
  • Graphic, gratuitous violence
  • Disinformation campaigns

3. Creator Brand-Safe Indicator

Creators who consistently produce content within the "Safe" category may earn a Brand-Safe indicator on their Creator profile. This indicator signals to Advertisers that the Creator's content history meets Tamu's highest brand safety standards.

The Brand-Safe indicator is awarded and maintained automatically based on:

  • Content audit: At least 90% of recent posts classified as "Safe" by Tamu's automated and human review systems.
  • No active content moderation strikes in the past 90 days.
  • A Creator Score above the threshold set by Tamu (currently 70/100).
  • No pending fraud or conduct investigations.

The Brand-Safe indicator is displayed to Advertisers in the Creator Marketplace and may result in higher campaign fees and priority placement in brand campaign searches. Tamu does not guarantee that a Creator with the indicator will receive specific campaigns or revenue levels.

The indicator may be removed at any time if a Creator's content history no longer meets the above criteria.

4. Advertiser Brand Safety Controls

Advertisers using the Ad Platform have access to the following brand safety controls:

  • Content Tier Selection: Choose whether your campaigns run against "Safe" content only, or opt in to "Restricted" environments for broader reach.
  • Creator Filters: In the Creator Marketplace, filter potential Creator partners by Brand-Safe status, content category, audience demographics, and Creator Score.
  • Exclusion Lists: Advertisers may submit a list of specific content categories, keywords, or individual Creator accounts they wish to exclude from their campaign targeting.
  • Brand Safety Reports: After each campaign, Advertisers receive a report detailing the content environments in which their ads appeared, along with any moderation actions taken during the campaign period.

5. Moderation Process for Campaigns

All campaigns go through the following moderation stages before and during delivery:

  • Pre-Launch Review: All ad creative and Creator Marketplace briefs are reviewed by Tamu's automated systems and, where flagged, by human moderators, before a campaign goes live. Standard review takes up to 24 hours; complex or high-spend campaigns may take up to 48 hours.
  • Creator Deliverable Review: When a Creator submits campaign deliverables, the content is reviewed for compliance with the brief and this Brand Safety Policy before funds are released from escrow.
  • Live Monitoring: Active campaigns are subject to ongoing monitoring. If a safety issue is identified mid-campaign, the campaign may be paused automatically while the issue is reviewed.
  • User Reporting: Platform users may report any ad or sponsored content they believe violates this policy. Reports are reviewed by the Trust & Safety team within 24 hours.

6. Enforcement

Violations of this Brand Safety Policy may result in the following actions, applied proportionally to the severity and frequency of the violation:

  • Campaign Rejection or Removal: Non-compliant campaigns or creative will be rejected prior to launch or removed if already live. Advertisers will be notified with the reason for the action.
  • Creator Strike: Creators who produce content that violates this policy in the context of a brand campaign will receive a formal moderation strike. Strikes affect the Creator Score and may result in removal of the Brand-Safe indicator.
  • Advertiser Account Suspension: Advertisers who repeatedly submit non-compliant campaigns or attempt to circumvent brand safety controls may have their advertising account suspended.
  • Permanent Ban: Severe violations — including submission of illegal content or deliberate circumvention of safety systems — may result in permanent removal from the platform and referral to law enforcement where appropriate.

Tamu reserves the right to update this Brand Safety Policy at any time. Material changes will be communicated to Advertisers and Creators via in-app notification at least 14 days before taking effect.
