1. What we collect
We collect the information you provide (name, phone number, bio, photos), usage data (rooms joined, plans attended, messages sent), approximate location (never exact GPS), and device data (push tokens, OS version).
2. How we use it
Your data powers the nearby feed, room and plan recommendations, safety scoring, notifications, analytics, and platform improvements. We never sell your personal data to third parties for advertising.
3. Location data
Your location is fuzzed before being stored or shared publicly. Exact coordinates are never shown to other users. Ghost Mode disables all location sharing instantly.
4. Data sharing
We share data with service providers (cloud hosting, LiveKit, push services, payment processors) under strict data processing agreements. We share data with law enforcement only when legally required.
5. Data retention
Account data is retained for 30 days after deletion, then permanently removed. Message data may be retained for safety and legal compliance up to 12 months.
6. Your rights
You can access, correct, or delete your data at any time. Request a full data export from Settings → Privacy → Data Export. EU/UK users have additional rights under GDPR/UK GDPR.
7. Cookies
Our web app uses essential and analytics cookies. You can manage preferences via our cookie consent banner.
8. Children
Tamu is not intended for users under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from minors. If you believe a minor has registered, contact us immediately at privacy@tamu.social.
